Vívian Antonino Silva

Heterogeneity is a common characteristic to the human languages, and such diversity is stipulated by linguistic and social factors. Through an analysis of works carried out in the context of the Project Vertentes do Português Popular da Bahia, there was observed the social conditioning of the studied phenomena, taking into account to origin of the communities marked historically by contact among languages. For the preparation of the works, there followed theoretical presuppositions of Sociolinguistics and there were used interviews carried out in the communities of Helvécia, Barra and Bananal, Cinzento and Sapé. It is looked to prove the hypothesis of which linguistic reality bipolarized of Brazil favored the formation and the maintenance of a variety of language modified by contact, the popular Brazilian Portuguese, through a linguistic irregular transmission. It was come to the conclusion from which the men and the people who were already out of the community do bigger use of forms that more are brought near of the standard, showing up that the linguistic leveling that is taking place part of extern influences to the communities, being characterized like changes from top to bottom. Between illiterates and semiliterates significant difference was not noted regarding most of phenomena, certainly due to the bad conditions of the public school that these speakers have access, when they have access.
